Look at Chris Harris column.

Does this mean that they are going to slag off 997 in next week's Twin Test v DB9?

The AM V8 Vantage looks tasty though. Visiting the Aston Martin factory in a couple of weeks.

seen his column, and i guess it depends on who is driving the cars! Hopefully Peter Robinson will be the other driver[;)] Would be suprised, and a little disappointed if, as a previous owner of a 911, Mr Harris ripped into the 997[&:]

No he won't slag off the 997. Chris Harris loves 911s and, if the 997 is as good as the eary reports suggest, he'll be equally enamoured by it.

Spizz,

How do you swing an Aston factory visit? We live just down the road from Gaydon and would love a look

He drives a delivery van,and is taking in a load of mondeo switches in.

Ford Ka 1.3 2000
but ally wheels and Aircon.

I don't think he will slag it off. Look at the overalls he is wearing at the 'ring on page 82 to see where his alegiance lies.
I'm not sure why they are testing it against the DB9 though, when the AM-V8 is the competitor. There is a slight price mismatch, plus they are designed for a different audience. Perhaps they feel that enough of the V8's bits are shared with the DB9 that it will give a worthy indication, although they already tested the DB9 against the 996 TT.
(DB9 won for ambiance and sense of occaision, TT won for driving ability and sheer pace.)

I suspect from his column that the only thing the 997 has to beat is his impression of the 996, 993, 964; looks like it is competing against it's heritage.
We'll see what he makes of the steering on the new car. I guess on the sports setting he will think it a bit more focussed, but may reckon it is too heavy and too civilised.
