In this weeks Autocar, Colin Goodwin says the best drive of his life was in a 993RS along the N85 Route de Napoleon in 1995.

Great that along with Chris Harris and Andrew Frankel the 993RS has so many journalist fans.

absolutely awesome road. Did the section from Grasse to Gap, then Briancon a few years ago on the way to riding a stage of the TdF. Unfortunately, was in a Renault Espace! Am definitely planning a trip back at some stage.

The book / mag in WH Smiths dedicated to porsche RS which is out now has some good 993 RS features. I think they are reprints from previous publications but still pretty good reading them again.

Features on:
Steves Riviera blue car 9 RSR
RHD riviera CS - C3RSR?
RHD white car - N300 RSL - looks nicer now back with small spoilers [:D][:D][:D]
Speed yellow car - poss Johnny on here? not Probets car as no roof ariel

Plus plenty on 2.7/2.8/3.0/964/996/997 RS's

Great photos in that article (love the colour) but there is some bloke in the way in a few of the shots.....[:)]

I know there is lots of debate over the 964/993 RS reliative merits, but leaving trackdays out of the equation I have few memorable road drives in my 964RS (other than those where I scared myself when the front end had a go at skipping into the hedge after a big bump) but have some great memories of the 993.

For me that was always one of the clinchers for the 993 RS in that it was more of an RS in that it could do everything out of the box and with A/c and electric windows made euopean touring less hair shirt too.

Without being too contentious "balance" was what really made it the spiritual sucessor the the 73 RS.

The 964RS is wonderful but in a really track focused way.

As the new owner of John Proberts car, thought is was the very same. Only the roof ariel (lack of) shows it isn't the car.
Although it is in last months Total 911 with John piloting the car whilst in his ownership[;)] Cheers John !!!
