Autoglym Paint Treatment / Warranty

Guest

I had the Autoglym Paint Protection Treatment applied to my 997 when I bought it in September 2005, but recently the paintwork has started to show a few blotches where our feathered friends have left little messages on the bodywork (I think the technical term is bird lime)

This is despite the car being professionally valeted monthly using Autoglym protects

Should I be raising this warranty issue with Autoglym or my local OPC?

Anybody else had similar problems?

Dave

My Dad used to work for the company that owns Autoglym, and he's confident that he can get something sorted if OPC tells me to go away ...

Just wondering if anybody else has had any experience with it

Just read on another forum that the Autoglym treatment lasts for 10 years!

POODOO !! [&:]

I have lots of experience with Autoglym and Zymol and there is absolutely NO SUBSTITUTE for a regular wash and wax routine with any product at any price. Zymol is miles better than Autogoo though. A treatment lasts no more than 4-6 months in my book, think about it, your paintwork gets absolutely hammered out on the road by all manner of projectiles.

Above all, if you spot some bird poo or anything else that should not be on your paint work, wash it off IMMEDIATELY, do not wait. [:(]

You have been warned.

Any of you guys tried Zaino?

I personally rate it as the best polish going. Its polymer based and not wax based, lasts a long time, and a shine that is quite incredible.
Alot of show cars use it in America.
Great great product.

Yep - Zaino and Rejex used here [8D]

(Excuse the hazy look - lense flare and the microfibre cloth repeatedly reflected in the paintwork and back again!)

Help needed - if you have a new car, presumably waxed with something from the OPC , is it still necessary to use the HD cleanse Zymol product, e.g., before waxing with Zymol?

I suppose the question is, are all those products in the kits necessary or is it possible to just use the wash and wax products, with more readily available cloths etc?

yes you do need to HD Cleanse - you need to remove all the inferior rubbish the OPC has put on.

If the car has been sititng in storgae for a few weeks you migth even need to claybar the car as well to remove fallout and tree sap deposits :(

Absolutely,

Clay bar is an essential step before any polishing operation. All that happens otherwise is that your polish picks up the grit etc emedded in your clearcoat and helpfully scours the rest of the car with it, a sort of well meaning grinding paste !

Ever wondered where those swirl marks came from despite you best and most careful washing and poilishing efforts ?
