Automatic S2's

The 2.7 was thelast car manufactured with an automatic gearbox. Tiptronics will certainly be the cheapest 968s though and youll probably find a Tiptronic cabriolet cheapest of all...

True, and I must say that I have grown to really like my 968 tip. On long journies or town driving it is great but its not for everyone. It only has 4 speeds and is basically an autobox with a manual override (which I use most of the time) but has effectively no 2nd gear because 3rd on a manual S2 is only slightly higher then 2nd on the tip. Bear this in mind if you test drive one because it means you never get the kick like in a manual car but the 2nd on a tip is a superb gear for overtaking.

As a guide I paid £6.5K for mine 3 months ago which was a good price considering that it already has new cams and a fully rebuilt head, new drive donught and loads of other big bills, the sorts of things you need to see done on a 968 really. You don't tend to see so many for sale though and I have to say some of the 968 prices look a bit silly.
