Availability Problem - Pirelli P Zero Rossos

I need to replace my rear tyres soon (currently 2.5mm left) and I've been trying to track down 2 x Pirelli P Zero Rosso 265/35 R18 Z N4s.

I've tried BlackCircles, Kwik Fit, ATS, Protyre, Merit and local tyre centres in Oxfordshire but all are out of stock and unable to say when they can get them. I checked with Pirelli today who said that officially they are showing nil stock in the UK and have no idea when a new batch will be manufactured and shipped to the UK. They reassuringly told me that the tyres haven't been discontinued. A very nice lady subsequently called me back and said that they are holding on to a 'very small' quantity for Porsche. I've called Porsche customer services at Reading who are trying to see if they can locate a pair. Fingers crossed.

Anyone else experienced problems sourcing P Zeros?

[FONT=arial"]I'm all sorted now thanks to a delightful and incredibly helpful lady at Pirelli called Denise Williams. Denise put me in touch with a [FONT=verdana, geneva"][FONT=arial"]nearby Pirelli Performance Centre who were able to help. And, best of all, I didn't need to pay through the nose either - £460 fitted and Nitogen filled. Denise is a real star as well as a brilliant brand ambassador (or should that be ambassadress?).[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Would be worth posting contact details here if you can - I bet there are others in the same boat.

I got a new set of Rossos all round from Kwik Fit in Bletchley (cheapest I could find) about a month ago, but my fronts are not N-rated.

Glad u r sorted but has anybody suggested Micheldever Tyres?

They supply my guys in Chertsey (Wraysbury Tyres) and have rarely been stumped for makes and sizes

I recently replaced my rear Contintal tyres for Pirelli Pzeros, got them off ebay for £330 + £10 postage (brand new) from somewhere down south. Had them fitted for £20 by my local Indy. Thought that was a bargain!! John

Melv, yep I tried Micheldever (aka Protyre) but they weren't showing any stock.

Gonzosquidgy, is that really for 2 brand new 265/35 ZR18 Pirelli PZero Rosso N4s? If so, that's truly amazing.

BTW, if anyone needs to contact them, the Pirelli Customer Service number is 0845 961 6263.

Had a chat with Kev at Wraysbury Tyres this morning while they were changing a slick over for me and he confirmed they are struggling to get some sizes, even the common ones!

Rumour is all the Pirelli effort is being chucked at F1!!![8|]

You could try, Fowkes Tyres at Ibstock, just North of Leicester

They have a website

Which might just explain why Bridgestone chucked in the towel [;)].

Don't know how Pirelli are managing their production but Bridgestone used to manufacture all of their F1 tyres between December to March. These were shipped from Japan to the Bridgestone Motorsport warehouse in Slough in advance of the start of the season. These were made in a special production facility which was separate and unlikely to affect normal car tyre production.

Apparently Pirelli are making 50,000 tyres for the F1 season. And I thought buying four of the road tyres was a bit pricey!!!

Naive question but given an apparent availability of Asimmetricos

(a) what is the performance difference between the P Zero Rossos and the P Zero Asimmetrico, and
(b) can PZero Asimmetricos be mixed with the Rossos (different axles of course!)

My 3.2S has P Zeros Ross N3s all round but the rear's will need changing soon.

Ian

As I understand, the N4 marked P Zero Rossos are Assimetrico pattern. According to the Pirelli website Assimetricos can be fitted all round but Diretziones can only be fitted on the front. The two types cannot be mixed on a single axle.

Chris, you might be right but I was going by pattern shown on the Pirelli site: http://www.pirelli.com/tyre/gb/en/car/sheet/pzero_rosso.html

The two rears I've just had fitted have exactly the same pattern as that of the tyre displayed when you click on the Assimetrico link.

Normally Diretziones front, Assimetricos rear.

That's how my car came from the factory - but it was several generations of tyre ago!
