Go to "My Profile" and upload an avatar from your PC. There is a maximum file size, so you will need to prepare one in advance.

As far as I can see this forum does not allow you to link to a file in something like photobucket, so you "must follow ze rules, yah!"

Load picture into MSPaint (on all windows os)
Check size - Image / Attributes
You will see the size of the file in bytes and the Width and Height.
Change the width and height by the same ratio to keep the picture the same shape.
As a rough guide, if the size of the picture is 400 bytes and you need to to be 200 bytes
then divide both figures by 50%. You will probably have to do some experimenting until it
is below the allowed limit.
Do a Save As with the word small added to the original picture so that you don't overwrite it.
Load the picture into MSPaint again and check the image size - if you don't do this then the attributes aren't shown correctly.
When loading the avatar onto the forum remember to click Apply
Any problems email the picture to me at fredhindle@i.am and I'll have a play with it for you.

Fred, thanks for your help. I have changed the width and height like you said, saved it and all I get is the top left hand side of the original picture (just sky!!)but still the original size!

I think I should dye my hair blonde........how you getting on Brian? It's like being back at school and struggling with the homework!
Kx

Kim,
Send me the picture and I'll try and create some instructions for you using that picture as an example. Then you should be able to do it in the future.

Cheers,
