BABY CHAIR IN 911 REAR

ANY BODY HAVE ANY LUCK WITH SEAT IN BACK ...ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT .....ITS A TARGA 1987 .....WHERE DO YOU GET SEAT FROM...

I don't think you will be able to buy a new one from Halfords that fits! best bet is keeping looking in Porsche post and 911 & Porsche world etc. They do come up fairly often, but do get snapped up very quickly.

The Porsche Prince seat has a narrow enough base to fit in the rear. They often come up second hand in PPost but can also be bought new from Porsche. There is also a crowd who advertise seat belts in PPost who have a child seat that fits (although IRRC its about twice the price of the Prince).

The Prince seat is OK for short journeys, the problem is that the back of the regular seat is almost vertical, when my lad falls asleep he always falls forward. Secondly, it uses the normal seat belt, not ideal as the shoulder belt rides quite high.
I'd check out the alternatives before buying the Prince seat!

Phil, are you using the seat correctly? I don't have this problem as the belt runs thru the bolster. I agree the seat is very vertical and sleeping child means a slumped forward child. The Maxi-Cosi seat in my wife's car is much more comfy for my daughter but there is no chance of getting it in my car.

Good question Richard, I'll take a piccie of the lad installed and see what you think. I read the instructions when I initially installed the seat so I don't think I got it too wrong!!!

How old is the sprog?

When 3 years old I bought a new Porsche Zoom for my daughter.
When new born I had the front passenger seat belt extended for a rear facing seat for my son. When he was capable of sitting in a forward facing seat I bought him a Britax Freeway and had it fitted in the rear.
Now 3 he sits in the Zoom and my (now) 6 year old daughter just sits in the rear bucket.

Guess you will be looking at the Zoom seat shortly?
Big tip - buy a nice cushion or a pillow to carry around for long journeys. Regardless of seat or head support a sleeping child will loll around and eventually will lie slumped over the gearbox hump - not good if you have linen carpets and they have had their face painted at the Porsche event.

Another excellent tip - buy a travel potty! A 911 gets very stuffy in the rear and if you corner like me then occasionally kiddie travel sickness is inevitable.

Phil,

this may be a daft question, but do you have lap belts in the rear or do you have 3 point belts fitted

ok back to me ...the one who started this ....my daughter is only one month old .and needs to be lying down in chair ... dose the princes infant chair fit in back ....if so any body seen one or may be have one for sale....

I've never seen a rear facing seat in the rear of a 3.2. I had the front passenger seat belt extended by the Quick Fit Centre for approx £70 to go around a rear facing baby seat.

Michael,
Sorry, I'd not intended to hijack the thread, appologies.
I think you'll find there's no room in the back for a rear facing child seat, the squab is too short and I'd imagine it would be very difficult to get physically get it in. The Prince seat I have is definitley for 20+lbs & forward facing, not sure if there are any available for new borns.
I think your best bet is to follow the route that Brian did and get the front belt extended to take a rear facing regular infants seat.

Jacob, I've got 3 point belts in the rear of mine.

One month old! No problem. Virtually any baby seat will fit. I used a Maxi-Cosi Cabrio (which happens to come in a nice red and black pattern that is particularly fetching in a red 911) in the rear of my car with no problem (89 with rear 3 point belts). Sure the squab is a little short but not so its an issue IMHO and because everything is so tight, the baby seat butts up against the back of the passenger seat backrest. Its not going anywhere.
