BABY SEATS..........AGAIN

Help is now definitely needed as the little man is fast approaching nine months and the wife would like to go out for a drive....

I have a 993 C2 S LHD and need a rear baby seat from nine months of age. The Seat which Porsche manufacture is the only seat so far that actually fits but feels a bit flimsy to say the least. Also from a safety point of view, the only thing holding in the little man is a strange king of lap bar (no dancing) without any shoulder straps - I have therefore been seriously put off.

I have also tried the Britax range and was told a Britax Freeway Excel would fit. It does get into the rear seat but protrudes too much from the seat itself to be considered safe. Upon contacting Britax they tell me they have no seats for 911's that they have tested that are safe!

It seems that some store assistants take great pleasure in telling you "Oh well, you'd better sell the car and buy something practical then" Mothercare can't help and the best response so far is from Halfords who say - get the exact model of a baby seat that you know is fitted by someone with the same car. What would be even better would be a photo of the seat fixed in together with any mods that may have been made.

Will I find one? Do I have to settle for the Porsche one? Or do I sell the car? hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

All help appreciated

Contact Quickfit Safety Belts. They used to advertise in PP - see advert in Sept 04 ed.

They also do child seats for all models.

They are based in Stanmore Middlesex.

I have used them before. They are good but not cheap!

Teee( hoped I spelt your name right)[:D]

I use the Porsche Prince baby for my two year old, when i first bought it I thought the same thing as you. The Porsche Prince baby seat look flimsy and not very safe. But I must say the looks are deceiving, the Porsche Baby seat works very well, by applying a gentle pressure on the toddler while braking, which holds the toddler firmly in place, when the baby seat tries to move forward.
The pad is also good for toddler when they want to sleep. On the bright side beware of the effects of taking a toddler in a 993, they will be saying "Porsche drive" before they can talk properly[;)]. My two year old thinks my 993 runs on water[:D]

Hope that helps.

As I am currently selling my 993 I have a Prosche Prince seat if anybody wants it. Won't be much use to me in the new car.

While I'm at it I will also have a set of red/clear indicators and a alloy/black leather handbrake and gear lever set. Various Artic Silver interior upgrades also available.

All in 'as new' condition as only in the car for a few months.
