Baby seats for 993 Cabrio

I now have a little one on the way in September and the 993 won't be going although everyone now says the Porsche will have to go....

Anyway I only have lap belts in the back and an airbag on the passengers front side. So it will mean that the baby can't get in my car for the first few months.

Is it possible to put three points in the back? And how much would it be? Also will any normal seat fit on the back seats?

Hi Neil,

I had 3 point belts put in the back of my Cab by the guys at Stanmore last year. Was about £300 from memory and was very pleased with the result. The belts are very very long and just fit around my Jane baby seat, which will be called back into use very shortly as my 2nd child is due next week! I have tried a friends baby seat and it is a similar fit. Good luck.

I'm amazed that you could get a rear facing seat in the back, JC (good luck with the arrival of number 2). I had Mamas and Papas group 2 seats (forward facing, suitable for 9kgs+) fitted by Stanmore recently (lengthened belts and changed buckle) to my coupe (already had 3pt belts) and that cost a bit over £100. I'm not tall, but there is precious little room behind me for twin '1', but of course more room behind the passenger seat with that pulled right forward. My boys are only just 10 months old so their legs don't stick out much beyond the seats; suspect I will be having to yield quite a bit of room as they get older though. Stanmore's certainly the place to go for any belt work and they can recommend specific baby seats through their experience of fitting them.

I am Having trouble trying to find a child seat Forward facing to fit in the Back of my 993 cabrio, My child is just turning 9months now and the wife is due to go back to work, So the porsche will have to be drafted in, I still have lap belts in the back.
I have scoured the threads on Forum, But still unable to find anything conclusive, Contacted Quickfitsbs who have told me that they can fit me Three point seat belts in the rear but i wont be able to have the roof down in the summer (Whats the point of having a cabby!) they also told me that some older models had a zip above the rear window where the belts could be fed through when the roof is down. They pointed me in the right direction for some Car seats to try Recaro young sport, Mamas an papas protec or Mamas and papas sicurio the previous two are dicontinued, But asked me to buy a seat then to down go and have the seat belts fitted, The problemis i live in Teeside so dont want to commit in buying a seat that will not fit, But have no problem in going down once i know a seat will fit.
I wondered if anybody could possibly shead some light on the situation, Eg Is it true that you are unable to have the roof down if 3 point seat belts are fitted?, where are yours located in your car?, And do you know of any child seat that is a group 123 eg (form birth to 12yrs) that fits snuggly in the back, what did you use?, And any other info a might possibly need.
I tried contacting porsche to see if i could get an airbag dissarming kit but
when i gave them the chasis no they told me there wasnt one available for that year.
I know its a bit of a lengthy email but getting pretty desperate to find a soloution.
