Back Box Heat Shield - Part Number?

Hi Guys

I need a new heat shield above my exhaust back box. I have called OPC (classic dealer!) and checked PET and can't get a part number?

Thanks in advance

Stuart

Thanks. I'm guessing I need the 951 part number as that image is not the same shape?

Is 951 503 139 00 available?

Cheers

Thanks for your help Martin. I've bought the one from ebay. £49.99 with free delivery. Looks straight enough and holes for fixings look passable.

Cheers

Thanks. I think all 250bhp models have the same one. Somewhat rare in decent condition as they are NLA as I found out!

Must be possible to fabricate something out of sheet metal surely? mine is looking like the one you linked to above but still feels solid (just looks bad).

Are you going to get it blasted? Could then paint it with some high-temp paint to make it last a bit longer...

Thought I would revive this thread instead of posting a new one :)

I just had this used rear exhaust heat shield delivered, not sure why it is in such good condition but I spotted a german seller "Schöner und Wolf" (possibly a breaker) listing a few of them. The part number on the listing is incorrect (for the fuel tank aluminium heat shield). It looked reasonably similar to the corroded piece of metal I removed from my car and on closer inspection there is a slight difference in the moulding but otherwise they look indentical size and the mounting points are in the same place.

I just fitted mine as it was when it arrived. It's in quite good nick in the flesh, not just as shiny as yours! It would definitely be worth knocking something up to press a few out if you were any good at that sort of thing considering it is NLA and most in this country will have rotted.

Mine is broken and rattling again. Did we ever get a definitive part number? It's definitely a 250 turbo specific part.

Two part numbers in the parts database, both NLA since 2014

95150313900 (MY 1989 only) - with option 249 (appears to be auto / tiptronic) (is this some mysterious automatic turbo?)
94450313700

Looks like the 951 part number is for automatic transmission only?!?! unless there is a mistake in the parts database. If so it would suggest (as I thought) that the heat shield is the same for all manual cars. This would make sense as the rear silencer is the same shape (and rough size) for all models. I think the turbo exhaust pipe is wider though but the back box itself is about the same size.

I suppose you could fabricate your own from some sheet metal or a friendly body shop?

There is only one option for the centre shield with a 951 part number (95150486900) but it doesn't say it is model specific

Thanks David. This part is definitely 250 turbo specific, and I think the 951 part number is correct, but the M249 bit seems erroneous.

It's definitely NLA although I'm going to call Porsche for a laugh and see if they can at least help with the part number. It's also rocking horse poo 2nd hand.

Mine is not actually too bad, its only came away at the screw hole lug nearest the back corner of the chassis. I am going to drill a hole in it and tie wrap it tight for the time being (as it rattles around 1,200 rpm when pulling away, then its quiet) around the exhaust hanger. This worked before on my last one before more disintegration set in!

Porsche can shed no further light on your findings David. The 944 part is £89 but NLA, not even a price for the 951 NLA part.

Heath Robinson time!

Well a couple of tie wraps has fixed the issue for the time being, noise is gone. Tie wraps are a fantastic thing!
