Back seat

Maybe a daft question, but should the back seat fold forward on square dash models? The manual says yes, pull the plastic loops just under each side of the backrest. There aren't any loops on mine that I can see - and there aren't buttons on top of the seat back like later cars.

The seat back is hinged so it does look like it should fold but can't work out how to do it, or maybe I'm just being a noob! [:D]

Anyone know the answer?

Yes they do.

On the left hand side when standing looking at it from the back, there will be a small lug on the sear back close to the rear arch

Push this on and push seat forward. They are sometimes stiff

That pic is a rear seat from an oval dash the early cars don't have buttons like that.

Like I said above Mike[:D] lol

I found the lever, wondered what that was for!! Doh, hadn't pushed it hard enough.

Cheers for that, now have moving rear seat [8D]

That is my '83 square dash car, ('84 model with the internal boot release), fairly sure it was all original inside until I changed the door cards.

I've never noticed any other type.

Wonder when they changed?

I was maybe wrong. I just recently bought an interior from a 944 s (1989) and tried to put it into a 924 turbo and it had different rear seat latches so rear seat with buttons was not useable. The button seats have a tube like section that comes out of the rear pillar whilst the my car had a smaller clip style.

I had been told that the early cars are the same as 924s but there was maybe a cross over period.

I stand corrected Mike! You learn something new every day. It's quite bizarre really as the one design shown in the owners manual with the plastic loops I've never seen before!

Porsche are always changing bits each year.

Yours is probably an '83 model year car, so doesnt have the interior boot release, who knows what else changed!

Yes, 1982 and 1983 model year cars used later 924 trim.
