Hi a late merry Christmas and an early happy new year. I have recently entered the 997 world with an 05 c2s( I still have my first love - 1991 964 c2) I absolutely love the C2S But unfortunatley having only had it for 2 months I had a puncture today, I managed to pull into a tyre centre and they charged me £80 for a worn (6mm left) perilli P zero as they couldn't fix the other tyre, this was the only one they had the right size! My other tyres are conti sport 295/30 19inch they have around 5mm left on them. I was wondering if any one had any idea what new tyres I should get? Do you think I should replace the front at the same time? I plan to do around 10,000 miles a year. I live and commute on main roads but am always a bit anxious about putting out the back end( since I span the 964 a few years ago- thankfully with no damage) thanks for reading and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to 997 land. I think the chance of losing the back end in a 997 when compared to a 964 is remote unless you drive like a loony on a slippy surface. The various traction controls on the 997 are light years ahead of the 964. In the dim distant past I had a 964 and prior to that a Carrera 3.2 and 3.0 all of witch were quite twitchy and have has scary moments. Never had a problem in my 997's.

The important thing with tyres is to have the same make and N rated on all wheels. I personally like the Michelin as they have a decent rim protector and I tend to be quite clumsy.

Enjoy your car

Welcome to the forum Greg

I ran Contis on my 996 and never got the mileage I should have ... loved the tyre though.[:)]
I'm not sure if Conti still do the N rating any longer? -which should be on Porsche fitted tyres, although we know its not a rule as such.

If they don't do the rating any longer you may have to replace all the tyres [:'(] but otherwise I'd just replace an axle set.
My working is two sets of rears to a front set, the rears tend to last 10-15k depending on the driving style.. [;)]

Many enjoy the Michelin tyre and others are in the Bridgestone camp- neither are a bad tyre, so worth looking around for prices...

I'd of been quite happy with the result of the £80 for a get me home tyre, I was recently left stranded near Bristol after a pothole incident and no tyres available in the UK!!

Which witch are we talking about? [8|]

However, agree wholeheartedly.

Happy New Year!

You might wish to revise that assumption after you've been here a while![:D] But we do try to help........
BTW, Bridgestones for me.[;)]

Yup, Bridgestone's for me - just got the N0 rated ones for my 05 C2S at £865 for a set of new boots here in Norwich. They've got a very generous rim protector and so far great grip.

I agree with the comments about traction control - never been in a hairy spot over my 2 years, even with spirited driving.
