Apparently a cargo ship transporting VAG cars - including Porsches and Bentleys - to the States is on fire in the Atlantic:

Thankfully all the crew are safe, but in a statement to Road & Track Porsche have indicated that:

We believe around 1,100 of our cars were among the estimated 2,500 vehicles on board the ship at the time of the incident.
That’s not good for US customers but you can be sure that it’s going to impact UK customer deliveries since Porsche are bound to prioritise replacement vehicles for such an important market.

Whilst I feel for my American cousins, Selfishly I do hope we in the UK are not effected, but we will see.

If there are about 1100 Porsches on board Carl - and if worldwide sales are anything to go by - then the majority most likely will be SUVs and not 718s … but of course that’s not a given. I suspect that the incident will have a minor impact on UK deliveries and I think manufacturers are having more of a problem with supply limitations.

Hope your delivery process goes smoothly.

Jeff

I would think the production of RHD cars is sufficiently advanced to meet current expectations.

Only about a day and a half's production so they can work the weekend if they have the parts![;)]

On another forum, many are waiting on Caymans, Boxters, 911s and Taycans. Matt Farrah's Porsche was on the ship. Its believed that the fire started from an Audi E-Tron.

Very sad.
