I know there is the potential for oil leaks from all manner of places on the 964. However I've just had had a real messy leak sorted.
The pipe that runs from the back of the oil filter, (beneath the rear wing) into the thermostat housing, developed a leak from the union just as it joins the oil filter.
The result was oil leaking onto the exhaust pipe etc, directly below. This was both smelly and messy. On removal, the old pipe looks as if it could have been the original, and as the car is almost 20 years old, (135,000 miles) I guess it's had a good life.
If this problem occurs to any ones car you would be well advised to buy an original Porsche part as after market parts don't always have the correct angle bends.
This is now fixed and I'm a little poorer to the tune of £350.00, but to be fair this includes an oil and filter change.
It may be worth all you guys just having a look in this area. Forewarned is forearmed.
