Badge fitting

IIRC there are two methods of mounting the badge:-

They are either a push fit, as both my 944's were/are, or they are bolted form behind.

The push fit is very tight so may give the impression that it is bolted. Try to lift either side of the badge a little at a time to pull it away squarely. If it moves at all it is probably a push fit not bolted.

As noted above, it is very tight and I haven't removed an old badge without bending it yet.

Before I go dismantling the front end of my 84 Lux is there an easy way to fit a new bonnet badge?

See my post in the 924 section re bonnet badge.

Click on my ID then list my 100 recent posts. It's somewhere near the bottom of page four, under bonnet badge.

If the nosecone on the Lux is the same as the S2 it's a piece of the preverbial.

I took mine off yesterday to straighten the badge that some scumbag had tried to remove (see other thread). 4 screws along the top edge, 2 more nuts in front of each headlight (flip them up and you'll see them), and 2 bolts from the panel (under the lip - see arrow in photo) towards the wings and it slides straight off. It only took 10 minutes including straightening the badge [:D]

Decided to take a couple of pics to illustrate

Hmm, just read 924Nutters other thread and it could be a major pain if the nosecone isn't removable on the early cars

Mine was a push fit (I prompted 924nutter in the first place when i was tackling the same job) and the only problem with not removing the panel is that you can't get enough 'push' to seat the badge firmly down so that it retains the gasket. The panel deflects too much before the badge will sit inside the lip of the gasket, and you may find over time the gasket starts to recede back behind the badge.

I've re-seated mine a couple of times (I was advised not to take out the screws mentioned earlier) but now it looks like I can safely do so I might just attempt that and get it to seat properly.

Bon Soir,

Mine is now attached with the discreet use of Araldite! I was lucky, the original was stolen without any damage to the car. The downside of my approach is that theives would have to ruin the whole bonnet to get my badge off.
