Balance Shaft Belt - 8v/16v same?

Afternoon all

As you probably know I am resurrecting an S2 cab which is LONG overdue a belt change. Am I right in saying the S2 cam belt differs from the 8v but the balance shaft belt is the same?

Reason I ask is I have a spare balance shaft belt for my turbo already which I hoped to use and was just about to order the S2 cam belt from CarParts4Less who have them at £25 just now.

Hiya,

As far as I can tell from PET, both engines use the same BS belt: 944 102 219 04

 
Yup, the balance belt is the same.

The timing belt is thicker on the 16V engines as there twice as many valve springs to deal with [:)]
 
Thanks. I've ordered a timing belt and will use the spare balance belt I have.
