WELCOME TO THE FORUM GOLFCHAMPION. SOME OF US MAY HAVE NON STANDARD EXHAUSTS BUT THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT! (Capitals in forum postings are generaly considered as indicating speaking loudly [;)])

"Golfchampion" A brave choice of handle there, if you don't mind me saying Sir. You could yet get some stick for that [;)]

It sounds like you got a great car there "G.C." and have done all of the right things in keeping it that way so far.

Are you sure you are dealing with ballance shaft noise? It could the water pump? Belt related noises often change as the belts warm up or wear in after initial fitting, have you noticed any changes there? I've not heared of ballance shafts being noisey in the past unless they have been fitted out of ballance or rather not timed in correctly - is this a possibility?

Edited 'cos I can neither spell nor form a sentence without making mistakes. [&o]

Always difficult to diagnose noises over the web but when I bought my car I had the belts changed straight away and shortly after they seemed to start whining. It turned out to be the oil pressure relief valve sticking and the whining noise was the oil 'squishing' through smaller gap.

The only Golfchampion I know with a passion for Porsche was Nick Faldo (and we all know what his wife did to the 959 [] )

Welcome aboard [:D]

Just a small question as you don't make it clear who did the work changing the belts and then re-tensioning. Its not a job I would trust to just any garage.

Hi in reply to your question-the work was done at my friends garage.fortunatly he has worked on alot of porsches.Living in Hull you would find it difficult to find a porsche specialist.I would have to take it to Leeds 0r Malton.I would not send it to any back street garage regardless of a cost saving.Cheers.
