Bargain track car?!

seems a real bargain but there are no comments about the engine - so my mind ended up assuming the worst! Wonder what sort of cage he has installed.

definitely a useful trackday warrior for someone

I really like how the lack of a spoiler really changes the look of the car, sets off the rear lines, makes it look more sleek (in my opinion).

Also really, really, like the alloys think they look quite smart on the 944. Could I ask what they are....?

it says 'Tecnomagnesio Alloys' in the advert - wherever you get them from (NB added the 's' in to the spelling!)

Hopefully one of these days the appearance of one of these trackday cars in the classifieds will coincide with me having the funds in place to buy it. [&:]

I think the wheels really let it down - much better with some 16" teledials (white of course [:D]). It will need a spoiler for high speed stability I think. It's a great spec, and should be nice & light.

This looks a pretty good buy to me - was very tempted myself. It's been on sale for quite a while now. I'm hoping it won't sell until I've got enough money to buy it - but that could be 2011 the way things are going.

As most of you chaps well know, there no such thing as a cheap track car...!!!!!!!![8|][;)][8|][;)].
Those wheels look very much like Dymag,s.
If thats the case they are alone worth @£1000. So long as they are straight true + not cracked...

I was thinking exactly the same thing [&o]

Wanna go halves :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I had a chat with Clive about this car before Christmas - he's basically looking for what the car's cost him in parts. All of the work has been done by his own guys so the cost has been effectively been written off. I'm sure you'd need to spend a bit on the car, but compared with the cost of prepping your own, this one will win every time.

btw Dave - I've got a cheap track car [:D] - it's just there's no such thing as a cheap Porsche [:D][:D]

Looks like a good deal. although scruffy round the edges, seems a bargain for that money. I would have bought it if I wasnt half way through track prepping mine.

It might have been cheap to buy , but i bet youl end up spending ££££ on it..[;)][:D][;)]
But your dead right, theres no such thing as a cheap Porsche. The dealers put paid to that with there costly parts...[8|][;)][8|][;)]

Would make a nice car for the CSCC Future Classics series. Pity I still haven't sold the pesky Fiat - anyone want (an even cheaper) race/ track day car?

What about cooling issues with turbos used on track? Anyone got a view?

This might be a brave thing to say, but I can't see how. It's intended just as a bit of a stop gap, so I'm trying to spend as little as possible on it.

Yes - when you use them hard, with plenty of boost, they get hot, very hot. There are some things that help.

1. More oil cooling - fit a second cooler in series with the factory cooler
2. Remove the undertrays
3. Good oil that helps keep pressures up
4. Lindsey steam vent kit (possibly - had that fitted to mine last year after the h/g went)
5. New radiator?

What does the steam vent do? On rennlist some of the guys were talking about fitting an oil catch tank and said that the lindsey one is not a true catch tank and acts as a glorified breather. I dont really know anything about them but is the lindsey one still good or would it be better to get a proper oil catch tank.

1. Steam vent kit fits to the back of the head and improves cooling. There's lots of theory on Lindsey's website. What's not in dispute is that most h/g failures are around the #4 cylinder. It's a very cheap mod - if your head is off.

2. Catch tank just needs to be inserted into the hose that goes from the AOS to the J-boot (before turbo). This enables you to minimise crankcase pressure. If the catch tank is just vented to atmosphere, you might get increased crankcase pressure which could lead to oil leaks. This was my effort - obviously connected to the MAF J-pipe, rather than the standard J-boot
