battery charger

when I know that I'm not going to run my car for a few days I always leave the battery charger on while in the garage, but I have to leave the drivers window a jar and run the mains electricity cable through the gap in the window. Does anyone have a better way of running the power without me having to go through a window?

Phil, I run them through the rear hatch, the seal deforms round the cable so you can shut the hatch, also stops the hatch light coming on as well.

Ideally you want the hatch open, I'm pretty sure when batteries are charged they (and the charger IIRC) give off toxic and flamable fumes! I'm assuming thats still the case on car batteries

They do but new batteries have nothing to connect it to, at least the Bosch ones I use don't. Not exploded so far!

No need to, there are drain holes in the bottom of the rear quarters also noway will a 944 be anything like air tight enough to worry.
The charge rate should be very low if you are leaving a charger on continuously. Better would be a 3 or 4 stage conditioner. If it is a normal 2-4 amp charger then better to have it on a time switch for an hour a day.

Use a conditioner NOT a trickle charger.

Google Accumate/Optimate

They have remote plugs that can be disconnected so you can charge without leads through windows etc
