I'm thinking of investing in a battery charger for my 997 to trickle charge it during the winter. What's the best one to go for + where's the best place to purchase it + what's the likely cost please?

I bought mine from here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ctek-XS-0-8-12V-1-2A/dp/B004RADNCQ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326406364&sr=8-3

As other will point out- The Porsche unit is a rebranded CTEK... [&:] plus a nice sticker...

ORIGINAL: Clewsey

Quick q on the cig adapter for the CTEK - Will this work without the ignition being on?

Yes Simon, but I had an intermittent problem with my adapter (annoyingly, can't seem to trace the source of the problem.!) and have reverted to connecting directly to the battery.

I actually went for the MXS5.0 as it offers a more sophisticated conditioning function - completely recovered the lawnmower starter battery i was going to have to throw out.

Works find on the 911 also. My dealer also put in writing that connecting the eyelets permanently to the battery will not void my warranty, although for the most part i use the cigarette charge socket,

£59.95 on Amazon, and a few allegedly genuine ones for a fiver less (by the time you've added P&P) on eBay.

Guys dont know how many times i have posted this ...buy one from LIDL when on special does the exact same thing as the CTek for £15 I also have the Ctek so i know At present have 3 cars on trickle charge

I got the Porsche charger off ebay seems odd how people sell their Porsche and then the charger goes onto ebay, as if it won't work on other cars! Clots!

Still, it got me one for £38. Very useful and as said before same as Ctek3300 with the plug adapter ready fitted.
