Hi Folks i know Porsche sell a trickle charger which charges the in place battery via the cigarette lighter socket ( Charge-o-mat or something) £80 ish, does anyone have one or can anyone recommend an alternative?? ta folks and merry xmas!

Lots of previous threads on here if you put in a search but many use (including me) CTEK 3600 - around £45. Excellent bit of kit.

Lidl and Aldi also do one from time to time for under £20 I have both the Ctek and Lidl ....think I paid £40 for theCtek, in fact it is on the car now

The Porsche one is a re-badged CTEK 3600, which is what I have and use for my Boxster, with the optional cigarette lighter connection. CTEK also do a lower-cost range of conditioners, but they're slightly more difficult to find. Electronically, they are almost identical.

Bought a CTEK 3600 yesterday from Demon Tweeks and it arrived today and is on the car already with the included eyelet fitting. ~ £50.

I also have the CTEK 3600 with the optional cigarette lighter connecter. Brilliant. Just plug in and leave.

May seem a daft question but i assume if they plug in to cigarette lighter there is enough gap in door (??) to run them out of car but still keep it locked?

Hi Folks Halfords do a "maintenance charger" for £23.99, I bought one attached it to battery / chassis (still in car) with supplied crocodile clips , it charged battery fully in 12 hours and now appears to be in maintenance mode....seems to work! good value...

...And if you're parked outside or in a garage with a window nearby, you might want to consider this solar powered trickle charger: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=98358

I've used one for a couple of years now and use it when I go abroad for long trips and leave my car parked at a relative's house or in long term parking at the airport as it doesn't need a mains supply.

I understand LIDL are selling one as of tomorrow for £15, which is widely believed to be a CTEK one in disguise.

Form an orderly queue at you local LIDL! [;)]
