Battery Conditioner Question

I am considering buying a conditioner to use via the cigarette lighter, but am not sure if my car wiring is currently suited to this (Carrera 2000MY).

If it is not currently suitable to support charging via the cigarette lighter, can anyone recommend what would need to be done to overcome this ?

Advice welcome as usual.

Hi Stuart. I don't think that your cigar lighter remains 'live' when your car isn't active (ie. locked). I think that they started to make them continuously 'live' around the MY2003 mark. I have a MY 2003 and I must admit it's very handy for the charger.

However! Have look here!!: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=356323

Hope this helps!

Adrian.

if your cigarette lighter is permanently live i.e. it works without the ignition switched on then the it should be ok. If it isn't then its a fairly straight forward job to get it wired so that it is.

Thanks for the replies. I thought I could remember reading it was not live on pre 2002 cars, but was not sure. Guess I could just get off my backside and try it for myself !
