Battery was an "emergency" purchase a few years ago.....

Maurice, how do you test for the blown recitifier?

Cheers

If you were charging inside the car then I would worry about the acid attacking the area where battery was sitting. I had this on my Honda and even if I washed with copious water still corrosion in the battery holder. I believe you need to neutralise with alkali (soda bic). This is the reason why I am unkeen on leaving batteries connected to charger and in my case I fully charge then remove the battery tender and disconnect the battery terminal from the car but this does have its disadvantages.....

I agree with Maurice - do yourself a favour and buy good quality ones like Bosch from Costco.

Eek!!

Only time this (nearly) happened to me was on an old Shogun -battery got really hot and fortunately did not explode!! Was traced to alternator prob, maybe what Maurice said -get it checked out first!

And yes, you need to neutralise the acid.

Holden do a mat u can put under the battery to soak up any spills

More than likely due to overcharging, I had one go bang years ago in my 3.2, reg was shagged and it was putting out 16 volts, blew the battery apart!

Bicorbonate of soda solution should clean away all mess
