Hi ppl, i know its asking a pretty hard question over the internet about a battery drain but ill state what ive done upto now and see if anyone might have an idea, or a local specialist to take it too.
My car is a 2004 Cayenne 4.5 S, when i got the car back in summer, if you left it for more than around 5 days the battery would be flat, well it would have the interior lights on but not enough in the battery to turn it over. So i got a new battery and thought this would solve the problem, but it didnt.
Now in winter over past few months, if you leave it for around 3 days it will go flat (think being colder is not helping) i left it for 6 days over xmas period and it was flat and down to a 9v reading on the multi meter.
Ive checked all the usual simple things like, under bonnet light, glove box light, in the boot lights etc....
Then ive had auto electrican out, who ive used before and hes pretty good, he checked the drainage present on the battery and it was variable going from 0.29 to 1.16, its not constant at any point, its up and down and all over the place. Hes been threw the process of removing the fuses one by one to see if this stops the drain present at any point and still got no where.
There was an old tracker unit on the car, which i thought would possibly be the problem so had this disconnected, but the drain is still there.
Ive had the multimeter on while the car is running and its coming up with between 13.60-13.80, so its not the best reading but far from the worst,so dont think its the alternator.
Over 24 hours i took multimeter readings at different times to see how much it was going down by. In 24 hours it went down from 11.82 to 11.42, so over a few days its going down a fair bit.
I think its going to be a specialist visit, unless there is a common problem on these Cayenne's that i dont know about ????
So if anyone has any ideas or a local specialist in the Manchester area i would appreciate any help.
(its more of a weekend car for me, hence the drain being such a pain, wouldnt be a problem if it was my daily driver, but if it was i'd be putting over £100 a week in the tank damn fuel prices !!! )
Thx for any help/pointers, Mike
