Battery drain

[FONT=calibri"]I have taken my car to my OPC with a constant draining battery issue. The error codes they are getting on the diagnostic is that there is a power drain from the CD changer. Has anyone heard of this issue before?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Yes, I think this is common. If you have a current meter you can monitor the difference with radio fuse fitted / removed to be sure. Make sure you have the code to hand though (assuming 986/996).

We expect a normal value of current in ’locked mode‘ of 0.1-0.2A

Kind Regards Lee

Thanks for the info, so it is probably the changer or the head unit. So, what is the solution if that is the issue, new cd changer and/or head unit? A new cd changer from Porsche is £800!! I would look for an ebay one or a new head unit before I paid that I think.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes its a 2004 c4s with pcm and cdc changer. So that is another option there. The only downside being bluetooth is not as good quality as cd. Will have a think and look at reviews of the bluetooth connector.

Last drain on my 928 was the CD changer, just a little bit of chafed wire shorting out with enough current to flatten the battery in a week.

Cheap fix; once i'd found it!
