Battery Flat!!

I have a late 04 997 C2S which has done 23k miles. I brought it in to Porsche a couple of weeks ago for its first MOT and as it wasn't due a service, I had it checked over.

Having attempted to start the engine last week, I found the battery completely flat and unable to retain any more than a very slight charge even after trickle charging for 24 hours.

I'm planning to pick up a new battery tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and if you have any recommendations on any particular battery brands - I was going to go for a Bosch Silver.....

Go to a grage and get them to chuck 30amps at it.

When I sold my 996(2001) a year ago it was still on the original battery

Have the car checked for a charging fault

My C4S has been garaged for 8 months, the battery's so flat it's permanently on trickle charge to stop the bloody alarm going off !!
Guess these cars like to be used regularly, so use it every day and you shouldn't have a problem.

Hi Rob
Funnily enough, this exact same thing happened to me 10 days ago!
I also have a late 04 997S (10 k miles) and it had a service end of September, with everything fine.
Went to start it 10 days ago and absolutely nothing. Porsche assistance came out and got it going with a jump start, so I got to work OK, and I made sure I ran it for 20 mins in the car park to charge the battery.
Went to start her later and diddly-zip again. Advice from the garage who came out to jump start her was get a new battery, so I nipped down to the local motor spares shop and they gave me a brand new BMW battery of identical spec which was under £50 (nice surprise) although they said if I really wanted the same battery it would be a Bosch 'silver', but they reckoned there was no advantage in paying more for the Bosch.
Battery installed, everything was fine except for no PCM, which was a bit disconcerting. No radio, no display, nothing at all. [:(]
I had to pop to the OPC for a minor recall fitment (a small bracket/nut replacement they said) so they rebooted the PCM at the same time for free.[:)]
Touch wood, she's been fine ever since. If you too cannot get the PCM working, don't panic, just nip to your local OPC for a re-boot.
Best of luck
Rob
