Battery Flat

On return to my 2003 Boxster after 2weeks locked up, found that both front and rear boot lids were released, plus spoiler was up
Opened drivers door and tried to start the engine, only to find that it was flat.
Unfortunatly had already closed the boot lids
Got a guy to put a jump start pack to open the front boot lid using positive terminal in fuse box, and earthing the negative on the door catch as per guide lines in the handbook .
When releasing the switch to open boot lid it just wouldn’t release catch !!!
Only way was to release the cable from under the wheelarch.
Any reason why the switch wouldn’t release the bootlid using correct procedure to do so
Hope to hear your suggestions

Hi Martin,

I’m sure that I’ve heard that even a jump start pack won’t necessarily do the job. Probably you’ll need the full whack of a fully-charged battery?🤔

I’d fully charge your current battery and try again; or even better - since batteries rarely are the same once fully discharged - get a replacement battery, especially if yours is more than a few years old.

Depends on the jump pack - you pronably need one with an override "jfdi" button - issue is jump pack will delivery smal currant (charge the phone) unless there is a big current request "start the car" - the issue is "charge the phone" doesn't give enough to power the circuit to open the frunk, and the car doesn't ask for enough current to get the pack the switch modes - hence the requirement for a jfdi / override button.

also - dont know about the 986 - but the 987 emergency release circuit expects you to open it with the key fob, not the switch.
