BATTERY LIFESPAN?

Could anyone advise what is the lifespan of a 997 Battery. My late 2004 997 C2 Tip has a completley flat battery. []

I have tried to recharge with no joy. Should I be buying a 680CCA or 760CCA (Cold Cranking). The car has a lot of technology and is not be used very much (1600 miles in the last 6 months) so I guess the battery is being drained when not in use. In addition I have bought a trickle charger.

Any thoughts on what make & type I should buy?

Maybe the solution is to drive the car a bit more !!!![:)]

Snap! My late 04 S had the same dead battery last week. Porsche Assistance could not breathe any life into it at all and so a new one was the only answer. Mine is used daily so not caused through draining/lack of use.
Maybe they have a 42 month self destruct device...

Definitely use the car more - the solution to most problems!

4 years is about it for the technology in a battery, although you normally get some warning they are on there way out - eg you find it won't start the car in the same lively way it used to, but does just about manage it. Then one day you have to charge it to get car to start, which is OK until the frost comes and you have to charge it again. Unusual for them to go from perfect to "unchargeable" in one drive (or non-drive).

My runaround Toyota is nine years old; used mainly for short journeys, stands outside all winter and still starts briskly on the original battery. As Top Gear demonstrated Toyotas are hard to kill.

I've just replaced the battery on my Nov 04 Carrera S. PC wanted around £150 for a Porsche battery and £240 if they fitted it for me so I bought a Varta one from our local specialist for £97. Slightly worried about any extended warranty claims on electrical items as I no longer have a Porsche battery but I'm prepared to argue the toss should it come to that rather than pay rip-off PC prices.

After having the battery checked ....it is dead !!!!! New one purchased.

Refer to thread 'BONNET RELEASE WITH NO POWER' !!!!!!!!
