Hi All.

Can anyone confirm the battery in a UK spec Cayenne is located in the passenger seat base?

Also does the car need any special Porsche approved battery or will the Bosch one from Halfords be ok?

Thanks

FP

Mostly just 1, located unded the passenger seat. Some came with an accessory battery in the boot, to power high demand accesories I suppose. My 2004 Cayenne 4.5S only has 1.

Thanks Tiskev. Is this the most powerful as "standard" option, or can/should a more powerful alternative be used? Cheers FP

Hi Everyone. Well after several weeks of putting up with having the Pig on Charge most nights I bit the bullet and bought a new battery. With help from "Cayenne Turbo Battery Replacement Guide DIY" from 6speedonline forum - Following the procedure/tutorials from this and from Rennlist and having already purchased the correct tools, I have to say I found the whole process very straight forward. Battery under the passenger seat meant after the two bolts were removed the seat reclined out of the way easily. I hooked up my CTEK charger to the points under the bonnet so not to lose any of the factory settings. The Pig had a "Varta" battery....not sure if this was OEM, or a replacement? However I decided to purchase a Bosch Silver Battery HSB020 which is not the one shown in the car parts suppliers spec sheet (HSB019 is too small) Put every thing back in reverse order and it fired first time! Big thanks to everyone who contributes to these sites.... FP

Did you get the correct correct amp .? Fingers crossed after fitting a new Fulmer mine is behaving itself after Being an absolute pain. MY ORIGINAL WAS A BOSCH.

Morning Tiskev, I did the second time around, spec sheet for Cayenne from supplier said HSB019 at 100amps. But was too small - obviously!! So the Bosch HSB020 at 110A was exact spec and size....I enjoyed doing it. I'll get chance over the weekend to see if the new battery has held its charge for more than a day [:D][:D] BTW, do you know what Porsche came fitted with as standard of the production line?

Keep it on the conditioner as you will not be able to jump start it By connecting another battery to the under bonnet points or the battery itself. You need a 900 AMP jump starter which i now carry about hoping not to have to use it Especially on Eurotunnel ! Make sure your boot is closed properly. The last time mine went into OPC they did not close Properly and battery was flat ! ! When I went to collect . You might get some info on fitting an isolator ? If left for long periods especially at airports ... It can e a pain .

Yes Bosch 110 Amp My car is 10 years old but only 50 K miles and it Is now on 4 th battery .Original lasted 6 years i think

ORIGINAL: tiskev It takes 2(two) hours for everything electrical to shut down after locking the car.
What...really? Why is this?. I too bought a booster....I drive into Europe a couple of times a year and don't want to be caught out. Thanks for the replies Tiskev

Battery update....not needed to charge it since installed, its been stood for several days and it fired first time! [:)][:)][:)]

Of course if we had bought Manuals our wives could have push started us ? Think of all the agro that would have saved ?
