Battery meter

...in an S2. Sits just above 12 when the engine is running. Just checking as a newbie that is normal?? Left 3 days and turn over was slow, new battery too, but only a cheap one fitted by last owner. Don't reckon it will be nearly good enough for prolonged cold weather...

Clean up your earths on the starter motor and clean the contacts on the back of the voltmeter.

Should be closer to 14v with engine running.

Clean the earths as Alistair says and if no improvement, get alternator checked out.

Guys have covered it, but you should certainly be getting over 13v with no lights/heaters etc. on

Well worth having the bushes checked on your alternator, they can be unscrewed and replaced, did mine last year after it failed to get me home one night!

It is normal for the 3.0 S2 to turn over slowly so don't let that worry you. If it's not run for a while just dip the clutch when you start to reduce the starting load a bit.
