Battery Recommendations

Any advice on which battery to fix to a 3.2 and can I get one at Halfords etc.

Thanks

Andrew

You can buy a battery for a 3.2 anywhere really. As long as its 66Ah it'll do just fine. My original battery was for a diesel would you believe. However, as I am into concours I forked out for a proper Porsche one at around £80. They do not do the 66Ah and the 70Ah was the recommended one they do now. It looks better than the old one did and hopefully might gain me an extra point in the shows. So in repy to your question you can get one from Halfords or any motor factors if you aren't bothered which make.

A Bosch 'Silver' battery is my recommendation. I bought one from Euro Car Parts for £40 or thereabouts last year and at one stage I think they were offering a lifetime guarantee. Give them the model and year and they'll quote you for the correct type.

I second Tripe's recommendation on the Bosch Silver. I've had one for 6 years in my SC, use a battery conditioner and it has not missed a beat.

£ in a row can't be bad. Had my Bosch 3 years, always have a charger linked, Optimate in my case. Starts right away even after weeks of no use.

Just checked my records, did indeed buy one last year for the 3.2, also bought one in 2001 for the SC (again from ECP), although I only use the SC now and again it always starts first time. The first one cost £44 plus vat, the second one £43.50 plus vat! The battery is always disconnected when not in use.
