Battery Replacement and Intermittent Starting

Hi,

My battery is on its final legs and is due to be replaced. Apart from going on-line and purchasing from a regular supplier does anyone have any recommendations for battery replacement ?

Also, and I'm not sure if its related, my 968 has intermittent starting problems from cold. I'm tempted to say it happens when the car is parked on a camber or slope but it hasn't happened often enough to really be able to connect the two. I'm thinking that in the first instance I'll replace the battery and see if that cures anything but should I be checking relays, fuses, fuel pumps anything 968 obvious before I embark on the long and painful process of identifying said intermittent fault through more elaborate explanation ?

Have you replaced the DME relay with the 993 part no....
If yours has the 944 part no then its the "old" type + due for replacement...
See your drivers manual for location etc....

Hi there!
My 968 is also beginning to feature a starting problem - again, intermittent - but my problem occurs when the engine is warm. If the engine does not start on the first turn of the key, it will churn and churn before eventually sparking into life, but will then splutter and take a lot of persuasion to rev! Pretty embarrassing really!

I suspect a choke problem and overfuelling, but perhaps my DME is on the way out too!!!

Any ideas?

Henry. I hope it is the fix...
Peter. It might be your throttle postioning sensor. Its bolted to the side of your throttle body...
OR
maybee the fuel pressure regulator.??? On the fuel pipe end of the fuel rail...its a sort of diaphragm unit, ???
OR a vacuum pipe split / leak....
Just a few suggestions for starters....
OR
If your not handy with your spanners , then your nearest Porsche indie will be able to help.....

Thanks for the prompt response Dave.

I'm not that handy, but I know a Porsche guy who is so at least I'll be able to talk to him with some sense of authority. Although, they tell me that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing....!!
