Battery replacement

After a couple of weeks holiday over Christmas I returned to a car with a flat battery. No big issue but I called the AA (Porsche assistance) who came out within 10 minutes to check things out. Turned out the battery wasnt that bad, so after a jump and idle it's fine. I was advised that it would probably be wise to get a new one fitted when it next goes flat, for which AA will supply a new one for £108 fitted. The battery for the 997.2 Turbo S is carried as standard by all AA vans apparently. May be a cheaper and more convenient option than using OPC? Thought this may be useful.

I would be surprised if they carried the correct battery that is required by Porsche to maintain the warranty, especially at £108.

You can do this and maintain the warranty, but be sure to speak to the warranty people helpline and have them confirm you can and get them to make a note of it on the records of your call. I did this a few months back and they confirmed the warranty would be honoured if carried out by "Porsche Assist" (i.e. AA bloke) the only part not being covered by the warranty being the battery itself.

Thanks for the info!

That's very interesting, did they confirm acceptance in writing ?, if so that's excellent news.

The problem is the vehicle may not pass the 111 point check when the warranty comes around for renewal.

Regards,

Clive.
