Battery Warranty !

Hi,

In principle, no batteries are covered by the warranty..... however if you can prove its defective and not just worn out, then you have a chance.

Cheers

Legalised robbery!! Bosch £80 - £110ish dependant on AH rating with 5 year guarantee[:D]

Moll 80ah battery 140 euros on their own website. Sadly do not ship to UK by the look of it! I'm sure when we had a new battery, from our local PC, on her ladyship's Boxster is was "only" £130ish a couple of years back. £280 seems ridiculous.

280 quid you must be joking i nearly chocked on my coffee when i read that price, every service i get told you've not got a porsche approved battery fitted (it's bosche) and they are told yes i know and it will last 10 times longer than the ones you supply

That really is a rip-off Russ.

I presume that was to supply and fit the battery. I would have thought that the PC would have waived the fitting charge as a goodwill gesture.

The Moll manufactured batteries supplied by Porsche are warranted by Porsche for 2 years. There seems to be a high incidence of failure with this type and it is interesting to note that Porsche no longer fit them to new cars. I've had 3 of these crappy things in my Boxster and all have failed at around 3 years. All of these were found to have one of the cells dead. The last one failed 6 weeks ago and was replaced with a Varta battery which has a higher capacity than the equivalent Moll, Bosch and Exide - it cost £90. A bonus is Varta offer a 5 year warranty.

Hi

My Cayman Porsche Battery was fitted new at last service September 2012 but in March 2014 the battery failed
so I duly reported problem to my dealership who duly replaced it under the warrant as it was first fitted by themselves.

They offered to replace it with another Porsche battery but I turned the offer down and ask them to replace damaged
battery with a better Bosch vision which they was happy to do at no extra cost and since then I have had no problems
with the new battery.

So I would say if you brought the battery within the last two years or it was fitted by a Porsche dealer in that two years
I would say they have to replace it, they may have to do a battery check to see if it failed but this only takes about 24hrs
to confirm this is the case.

From now on I would always buy the Bosch battery over the Porsche vision as its much better & if your dealership are charging
£280 to replace battery you think it includes fitting but I would go to Euro Parts and buy a Bosch 4 or 5 vision for about £80 and fit it yourself as its easy to do i would think.

All the best and I hope this information is of help to you. yours sincerely Kevin. [:)]

My original Porsche battery only lasted 12 years, but I topped it up twice a year and when not in use for periods used the Porsche accumulator, must have been lucky!!

Had a call from my local opc today to say porsche gb have decided to refund the cost of replacement battery ....i am now one happy bunny ...

£280 is I believe, the price *fitted*.
I bought the Porsche one a couple of years ago and fitted it myself (I couldn't find an alternative near me at the time). It was considerably cheaper than the advertised fitted price - although still not as cheap as the £80-90 above!
