battery

i'm going away next week and have some rather heavy duty electrical stuff coming with me.

to save having to have the engine on all the time i thought i'd buy another battery and hook it up in parallel.

Firstly will this work and what kind of battery do I need?

I've just been to the local shop and he tried telling me that I need a porshce 944 battery for £45....can't I just use any old battery? Obviously it needs to have a large capacity
