Morning Porsche gang,

I had purchased a new PORSCHE battery for my 3.2 targa 1985 about March this year as the old one kept going flat...it was an oldish battery anyway,I thought it was because I was not going out in the car enough.

anyway

after about 10 days the new battery goes flat !! I have not left the radio heaters lights or anything on including bonnet and boot lights
( this may have been a problem longer than I have thought )

ok to part solve this I have bought trickle charger

any help would be appraiceted guys:ROFLMAO:

Porsche (Moll) batteries are crap & overpriced, get a Bosch next time. Take that one back to Porsche and they will swap it

Something is draining your battery very slowly. Have you checked the luggage compartment light goes out when closed?

Hi, I had the same fault with my 1982 SC and the battery went flat over a few days replaced twice with a new one under warranty, both Bosch, but the same thing happened. After some investigation I found that the bonnet light switch was still live even with the bonnet closed, it was replaced and no more problems[:)]

Seems Porsche are now using Banner Brand Batteries. http://www.autobiz.ie/news/porsche-starts-with-banner-powernbsp.html

This is quite common mine only lasts about 10 days unused and I know plenty of others that do the same. Could be the alarm, leccy window relays amongst them. You shouldn't be able to open the windows with doors closed and imagination off.

Suggest you recheck this, Pepe[;)]
Where is the IMAGINATION. Switch located .....LOL . Back of the head next to the wind up key!
Some members seem to have a bypass switch fitted for this too, though[:D][:D]

thanks again lads boonnet light does go off as does engine lid light as does glove /and interior lights and windows are all up when I switch off. must be the battery ...I will take to garage I bought battery from and get tested as it was not a cheap one and has a 5 yes 5 year warrenty[>:][;)]

The factory clock and certain radio head units when clicked in place will cause a slight drain too.....

With respect to the windows, take the key out the ignition and with the doors closed, you shouldn't be able to lower the windows, so I understand. If you can it means that the windows relay is powered up and this saps power. You should be able to lower the windows with the doors open.

What about, as a test - if you are not using the battery for 10 days or so, and it is charged as usual when last used, disconnect it. After 10 days reconnect and see if it starts the engine OK. Then, if you have the time and patience, next time leave it connected and remove certain fuses to eliminate certain circuits to determine a possible fault? (accepted it may be an non-fused circuit causing drain) Steve
