Hello fellow 996ers

A request from Richard Heeley, BBC top gear, a facelift 996 C2 in speed yellow is required for filming on Thuesday am 23rd september, near Guildford.
If anyone can help and is prepared to allow Jeremy Clarkson a gentle track test please initially contact myself on 996@porscheclubgb.com for further information and finalising planning etc
Your help and participation would be extremely appreciated

Let Clarkson near a Porsche? Are you mad? He's a self-confessed pipe-and-slippers, Jag/Aston/SL hairdressers car, 'scaredy-cat'.
James May is a proper English gent, who appreciates the heritage of a 911, and 'The Hamster' is one of us, but Jezzer?

Is there anyone out there with a speed yellow GT3, willing to swap badges with a C2?

That'll shut him up!

This request has now been extended to Silver and light gray colour cars, contacting Alex renton at the BBC on T 0208 752 5043 M 07977 503462 or alex.renton@bbc.co.uk

Thanks Johnny

I assume you have been underwhelmed by the response?

Won't Porsche Cars lend them one?[;)]

Hi Oliver

Looking forward to setting Jeremy straight about the 911. :)

I was supposed to get the car back tonight with the PSE, but the mechanics apparently have a problem with the wiring so will be tomorrow morning now! :-(

typical!

It's the wiring for the switch that takes all the time.

They could have probably fitted the exhaust whilst you went for a test drive in the 997.

[:D]Yes but then they couldn't have charged the arm and leg fitting charges :ROFLMAO: Was recently quoted by an OPC 4 hours labour at £100.00 ph to remove my sports exhaust and refit original [&o] I told them that my local Rapid Fit did the job whilst old box was still red hot 1.45 mins from start to finish. They didn't believe me [] So I took my Boxster to my local body shop, who recently did 2 stolen and recovered insurance claims/major repair jobs for us, and they did the job in 2.15 mins! also they waited 20 minutes for car to cool a few degrees total cost £50.00

I would imagine Top Grear are testing the new 997.

JC doesn't dislike 911s per se, but his (humerous) angle is, "They all look the same". He probably wants a 996 to demonstrate that the 'new' one isn't really new at all.

And, if you meet him, he'll ask you 'amusing' questions like, " Is this the 2, 3, or 4 wd?" "Is this the fat or the thin one?" " Is this the turbo, targa or tiptronic?" "Is this the original 1964 one?" etc.

He'll know exactly what it is, but he'll pretend he is confused by all the different variants because, basically, "They all look the same and have done for 40 years".

So, humour him.

I probably won't even get to meet him knowing my luck...or they will still be trying to fit the exhaust in Swindon! :)

erm - Every car i've seen clarkson drive on a track has been far from gentle? unless huge amounts of smoke and rubber rain is normal...
