BBS LM 18"

Hi there ,
I was wondering if you guys have experience on BBS rims and could help me with some refences as I called them in germany and they don't have info about fiting them to 964s only in 993s witch is available in 8 1/2" ( LM009) front and 10 "(LM144) back, a litle bit big but I am not even sure if they will fit it terms of offset.

many thanks Konstantin

Konstantin,

I have the LMs fitted to my car - albeit a wide body conversion.

The details are as follows:

8.5J x 18 H2ET56 LM099 B14325 (10.6Kg) - BTW, NOT LM009
10J x 18 H2ET50 LM144 B14495 (11.0Kg)

I run them with spacers (26mm front and 32mm rear) to cater for the wider arches. For a narrow bodied car you may need some small shims (5mm) at the front but the rears should be OK as they are. I'd advise you NOT to use spacers (with the integral studs) since the LMs have very little accomodation behind the wheel for protruding studs. That's the reason I had to change my front spacers from 18mm to 26mm in order to prevent the standard studs protruding too much.

The wheels shown on the above post are not the road version of LMs - I think they are the race version with the gold centres.

Hope that helps.

Dave

I do like the look of the BBS wheels. Can they only be sourced direct from BBS and could I ask how much?

Paul,

Officially the UK distributor is Performance Alloys (http://www.performancealloys.com/) although I suspect they are obtainable elsewhere. There are many different models produced by BBS but the LMs seem to be the classic style favoured by Porsche enthusiasts. According to PA's web site the LM099 retails at £539 (+ VAT no doubt) per wheel and the LM144 at £585. That equates to a little over £2600 all in for a set of 4.

I was lucky enough to find a second hand set which were in pristine condition - they had been advertised on Pistonheads for more than a month with no takers!!

Regards

Dave

Thanks for the info.

2600 ouch!

I assume the LM's are all steel in which case the Alluminium BBS Race wheels from Carnewal look good value at £2400+VAT.

Nope - the LMs are forged aluminium centres with spun aluminium rims.

I'm not sure that is correct, in 2004 a set of 18" BBS Mags cost over £4000 with SO2 tyres.

As far as I know, these wheels are no longer available.
