Beaky's Beak RIP

Last night at Classic Cars on The Green, some silly old duffer ushered us up an entrance ramp over a post retainer. There followed a big bang and crunching noise. When I got out I found Beaky's beak wedged under the front wheels.[][][:(]

It was pretty well smashed beyond all point of repair being split and shattered along the front seam on both sides. As GRP it could perhaps have been repaired but, at that moment, I couldn't be asked and there was no way this monster piece of shattered GRP was going in the car with three people.

Good news, speed humps no longer present the fear they used to, and I can get into our close without catching the nose again. It was only going to be a matter of time before it got wrecked one way or another. I'm still not happy about it.

Beaky is now without front under tray (and 90% of the fixings for same) so a phone call to Simon for one of his speed hump friendly splitters and a bit of cunning fabrication is needed.

.......The ESS splitter is THE splitter design though.

Hopefully it will prove better value than my previous one. Considering the time it was on the car it came in at about £35 a month. []

The ESS version is by far the most practical. I do like the Strossek splitter which is a bit of a cross between the one I had and Simon's - very much on the lines of the 968 RS. This would fair better than my previous one but is by no means as practical as the ESS.

With many using the ESS splitter, as with ESS exhausts, they start to look like the norm and less outrageous. Does anybody have one of those original weeny exhaust tubes still?

Funny you mention this John! I was ragging up the motorway last night and have been blowing a few flames recently [&:] I blew the tail pipe off the back box this time when changing from 3rd to 4th[]. When I got out to look why the old girl was sounding husky, my heart sank at first, then quickly rose to a higher pace when the image of the large oval ESS appeared in my mind. [8D] Cool!! this had been on my wish list for a while , but why change something that was not broken.
The only problem now is my DPW installation has been set back a bit.
Funds are taking a hammering at the mo with a new baby and a new house - mustn't grumble though - at least I haven't had to part with my pride and joy.

The tailpipe had rusted as it exits the back box.

I've heard that VBH and Sabine prefer the ESS versions ... You're heading for a win/win situation [:D] [:D] [:D]

My heart sank when I first read this, at first glance I thought the car had been written off[:(]until I realised it was just the splitter, thankfully.
Good job as I hear you coming up this kneck of the woods to have some tinkering done?
