I have just fitted a Becker 2660 6 disc CD Changer to my 993S believing this to be the same unit as the badged factory fitted option. Everything went very well in that it plugged straight into the standard head unit and all appeared to be well. However ..... while the changer is getting power from th head unit it simply does not recognise that the CD changer is attached. I have gone through the set up procedure and defined the unit as a 6 CD Changer (rather than 10) but still no success.

The packaging specifically mentions Lancia and Alpha but not Porsche ... can anyone help please? I thought these units were identical? Am I misisng something?

The chnager itself is known to have been working fine before being fitted - although everything points to a fault at this point.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi rjs993

I fitted the same Becker 2660 (second hand) to my C4S, initially the head unit would not recognize the changer, I found by taking out the speaker connections first connecting the changer plugs then reconnecting the speaker plug (the yellow plug) the changer unit appeared on the display by pressing the left hand CD button on the head unit, i presume the plug was not connecting properly with the head unit as it was stiff to insert the connection, now all is OK.

Thanks Dave - this is certainly worth a try. To clarify, what do you mean by "the left hand CD button on the head unit" as the buttons are shared (with radio/cassette) so not marked?

This feels very like it may be a dumb question!

Hi

My head unit is a radio single CD player not a radio cassette, but if you go on to this Becker web site www.beckerautosound.com you can check the compatibility of changers to head units just in case your unit is not compatible.
