Becker Cascade Pro

Evening guys, took me a while but eventually tracked down the above unit which looks great fitted to the 944 S2. Photos to be uploaded later.

It acme from Germany and everything works as it should except the navigation, I have everything loaded, I have satellites showing and I can enter a destination but that's where it all stops.
It does not proceed to load destination or give me directions. Once installed it did not ask to do a calibration run.

I read somewhere that the GAL and reverse signal was not needed for the navigation, is this indeed the case? Do I need to connect these in order for the Navi to work? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Paul.

Paul,
Not a lot of help but all I needed for my Indianapolis was the speed reference wire from the dash cluster. It did do the calibration run when I first used it and its been ok since. Is it recognising the disk?
I've got a cascade (not pro) waiting for a suitable car but not installed

Actually David, I think that is a lot of help. It does mention the GAL, (speed signal) and I have read that this is related to speed controlled volume. Do you know what colour this wire is and do i just splice it in?

Yes it is recognising the disc and the GPS aerial as I have satellites showing.
Many thanks
Paul.

Sadly I don't recall the wire colour. I had the garage here find it and I passed it on to the stereo fitters. They were great as they charged me less as I had done the owrk for them.
It "might" have a red stripe through it as that rings a bell but I'm not promising.
I thought I might have a 928 or a cerbera for the cascade but at least the 928s have gone mad price wise as I'd want a GTS or GT.
I'm after a good priced land rover traffic pro for mine too. I rather like becker stuff!

When I installed a Becker nav unit in my 944S I connected to the speed ref signal behind the instrument cluster and grounded the reverse signal.

I did a calibration, and it worked fine.

I then moved the unit to my Turbo but haven't connected up the speed ref and it doesn't work properly, so it must need it.

I'm sure I have a photo somewhere to show which colour cable I spliced, I'll take a look.

I also hid my GPS aerial under the dash, in top of glove box inner, and it picked up satellites fine.
