Becker CD. Question re. Fit

Hi All.
I was looking to fit a Becker Grand Prix into my GT3RS, mainly to get the "˜Hands Free' Phone facility, a couple of people have said it will go straight in, but I have also heard that all 996's from 08/02 have the Fibre optic, BUS Technology and therefore will not be compatible. Can anyone answer this question 100% either way. Thanks for your help. Bob

Right...

If you have the Porsche Sound Upgrade or Bose or a CD Changer (and you still want to use it), then the Becker Grand Prix won't be a simple install as all these items use the MOST Bus fibre optic connection.

HOWEVER, if you have the normal speaker detup and don't want to use a CD Changer, but an iPOD instead (as I did before the mega audio upgrade), then it'll fit in in around 20 minutes. You just need to leave the CANBus connector off , so the Becker doesn't interfer with the rest of the system.

I liked the Becker unit and still have it along with the iPOD connection if you want to make me an offer.

Cheers

Paul

Hi

If like me, you have the uprade system there is an option to fit the Parrot hands free kit. This will mute the radio and use the front speakers for incomming calls. The mike fits by the rear mirror. Reception both ends is quite good.
