Becker stereo

Thinking of replacing the nasty Sony disco stereo that was in the car when I bought it, just too many flashing lights.

I was looking at the Becker units in particular the CDR 22. It's a nice simple looking thing, has anyone fitted one? Also anyone know what colour they light up and if they play mp3's?

Try a Becker Grand Prix..
It comes with a hands free kit aswell.
+ you can get a Becker i-pod adapter that works great...
Very "stealth"...

To answer your question it lights up amber/orange. However, although it works in my pre-oval dash 944 it doesn't work in my oval dash 944. This has to do with the viewing angle. Unless you are looking from about 60 degrees above it you will not see the display i.e looking straight on as in a oval dash 944 renders the fascia invisible.
The orange CR22 display works well with the standard black/white/orange coloured gauges that I retrofitted into my pre-oval dash 944 (couldn't stand all that silver trim and yellow gauges in a burgundy coloured car). I think they were an option for Switzerland or somwhere but I can't find it in the PET anymore. Think mine came off a 924S.
Pretty sure they don't play mp3s, but you can get an adapter to plug in the back that'll let you use your iPod or whatever (Denison seems to ring a bell for these).
What year is your car, 89 I assume?
PS think it might be possible to get a 0 degree faceplate from Becker in the USA, but Porsche on this side of the pond denied all knowledge the last time I asked.
