Becker Traffic Pro and battery drain

Installed a traffic Pro a while ago and have experienced flat battery on regular basis since. Didn't put 2+2 together until doing some testing to locate source of current drain. Fuse D8(radio) drawing 0.3A . When disconnecting radio socket A current drain stops. Put the old Porsche cdr unit back in and everything is fine, no drain.
The odd thing about this being...Socket A on the back of the radio appears (according to the pin-outs on both units)to be pin for pin identical on both units. There is something mentioned in the Becker manual about excessive current drain if the wiring is not the same but the pin outs are identical? What am i missing? Other than draining the battery the Becker TP works fine. I am assuming something gets connected on the Becker that isn't on the Porsche CDR (apart from the Nav pins for speed and reverse). Any light shed on this greatly appreciated.

In that case it should be virtually plug & play, so I don't see why the TrafficPro should draw so much current in 'standby'. If it was me, I would bench test it with a battery, and measure the current drain. If it remains at 0.3A with the ignition-switched supply off, then it must be the unit at fault, rather than a car wiring issue.

Good idea. I will give that a go. Actually that has just got me thinking. Can the radio be switched on without the key in the ignition? Been nearly a week now but seem to recall mine could? Going to have to double check now. There is something in the TSB about the different ways in which the radio powers up. I will go back and have a read.

Perhaps this might explain the current drain. From the TSB
- Check that audio CD operation and radio operation are possible with the ignition switched on and off (terminal 86s still connected) as well as with the ignition key removed (terminal 86s not connected).
