Booked my flight and ordered the car seat,s spoke yesterday and got the feeling he was getting itchy feet and wanted to sleep on it .. Phoned again this morning and said yes i could have it .... then phoned 2 hours later and retracted the offer.

All i had done is be honest and upfront ... i am now 911 less and am GUTTED !!!

If anyone know.s of a nice Targa they are thinking of selling i would love to know ....... Must have light interior and i had my heart set on Zenith blue ...doesn,t have to be Targa but the interior must be light .

I know all of them on PH and most for sale in the trade but if anyone has any ideas i would love to know ......

Thx Guys

Really sorry to hear you have been messed around. I shall keep my eyes open for you; good luck with your next attempt. Keep smiling, it'll all be worth it in the end![:D]

David,

Sorry to hear your news. But this is close to what happened with my car (the car that eventually became mine, once the owner had changed his mind a few times).

Once you have your 993 you will realise why. You just can't let go of them. Truth is the people who sell them are often the ones who have not driven them for months....decide it is not sensible to keep them. They put them on sale, but they take them out for one last drive....and they fall in love again....

The guy who owned mine kept it for another month, then he called and finally said we could go and pick it up if still interested.

Keep in touch with him....you might still get it.

Good luck.

Sorry to here that - it happens to the best of us. Very similar to Marks story.

A lady agreed to sell me her car . Had it from new. Back to supplying OPC for service every year. 10 stamps. 30K on clock.
Three days before pickup phone rang - guess what? Took me three months to source another. Rang her before
buying this one - are you sure you dont want to sell? NO. So I purchased other car only for the phone to ring
three weeks latter - guees who now wants to sell.?

John

Oh I guess what you are asking what did I say - Yes and ran down there with the money before she could put the phone down!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guess these stories are part of the reason the prices of 993s are holding strong despite what's happening to the newer 911s[:)]

So did you end up buying two 993's?

British Porsche's are C16 cars, Does Ireland have a different country code for there cars? If so, it may be a blessing in disguise, as some people are very particular when it comes to country codes on there porsche's. When it comes to reselling the car, a C16 will be much easyer to shift. But dont worry the right one will turn up soon.[;)]

On, off, on off, hot, cold, maybe, I don't know... sounds like a past relationship I had.

Back to your hunt though, I remember looking for my 993 for I don't know how long, so many web pages & so many "sorry just sold it", my head hurt from trying; but the will to own never fatigued. I even hunted daily via the internet when abroad. (Can we pretend I didn't write that). [;)] The short of it though is in the end I was rewarded with the car I have and I am sincerely happy with her and couldn't think of owning any other.

I agree with the statements made already regarding the difficulties of letting a 993 go. It's not so much that one forgets how amazing they are to drive, more the seemingly new thrill and excitement she delivers every time you do. It's just something you don't & perhaps can't get used to... Which is perhaps why some 996 & 997 drivers come back to the 993.

Stick in there...

Hi - Suggest you take a look at the Posrche Post July Issue just fell through my letter box today - Your tale stuck with me - take a look top left hand corner page 122. Looks like the colour and model you were looking for!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck

Thats the one i didn't get John ...but thx very much even a friend of mine phoned and pointed it out ...... think it was too late to retract the advert ..... but agin thx for thinking of me in my hour of need !!

So did you end up buying two 993's?

Yes I had already purchased the blue one when she rang to say she had changed her mind and was now going to sell the original one I went after. So I had two, both 2S models - they look a dream on my drive one in ocean blue with just under 40 on the clock and the other is silver with 30k - but standard cars - no mods - with full history.

Wow, I find keeping one C2S in good running order a financial comittment; two must be double the pain. How much do you drive them; maybe you alternate them or maybe one is for the wife?

Thats the one i didn't get John

Try taking a look at PH a C2S has come up in your favourite colour - low miles - in my opinion (for what its worth)
this wide body beauty would make a better investement than a Targa! Worth a look anyway.

Thx chaps found another one having a look Friday .......
Seems VERY STRAIGHT silver which could prove a bit sticky to sell ??? maybe you could give me your views ... 55k new clutch /discs/ pads ... renewed all the keys + master new ....New PZeros and wheels refurbed ... sounds very spoilt .

Anorak question .. is the compressor an all in one affair like my old 3.2 boxed up etc or is it like any compressor you can buy out of halfords ????

C2S in good running order a financial comittment;

Any car has to be maintained to be kept in tip top running order. A wise buy ie FSH all invoices and a carfeul owner who cares are just some of the l conserderations when buying (paying attention to detail at the purchase point can save you pounds later down the line)

Hi John,
Yes I agree. I had a Peter Morgan survey carried out on the car I purchased which brought out a few issues however, I still ended up spending the thick end of 4K to get the car into absolute top condition. My car had never seen a winter and had been stored regularly therefore quite a few little jobs were never resolved (all heat shields for one).

Mmmm i understand about the inspection side of things it was serviced in April and i spoke to the Specialist today .........
Tom Ferguson ... He assured me the car has been well looked after if a little under used ??? Sounds a bit reverse psychology ??

Not at all... give your 993 regular exercise and pampering. As any car, they need to get up to and be used at their correct running temperatures etc, in my opinion[:D], where you'll enjoy them the most, then too! They're not just beautiful to look at...
