Beeps on startup - any ideas?

Can anyone help me solve a rather irritating question.

When I start my car, the dashboard (or so I think it is) emits firstly five quick beeps in succession, followed by three slower beeps. Or is it the other way round? Or does it sometimes only emit three slower beeps or only five faster beeps?

Am I going mad? I can't find the answer in the drivers manual.

I'm currently assuming it has something to do with the NavTrak system fitted to the car, but why three beeps then five? Or five beeps then three?

Aarrrgghh!

Somebody please put me out of my insanity!

Which Navtrack product do you have?
With the ADR system, 5 rapid beeps means the onboard system has not picked up the transponder chip in the card you should have. That takes about 15 seconds while it looks for the transponder. If it cannot find it, the system should send an SMS to Navtrack who should then call you to query if your car is ok.
The 3 slower beeps indicate it has picked up the transponder, which will cancel the alert to Navtrack. If you are getting 5 fast then 3 slow, sounds like your transponder cards need replacing, the batteries last 9-12 months. Call Navtrack on 08700 12 24 24 and ask for some new cards.

Ahh, that would be it then. I've had two new cards despatched just last week, although it still does five fast ones then three slow ones soon after with the new ones. I must be the way it works.

Thanks rjn.
