Belt Change questions (self-service)

Hi All,

As some of you know, I have had a 944t since the end of May now. I think it's due for a belt change really, following advice of some members here.

I have a friend who owns an (Audi) S2 who is going to help me with the belts. Is there anything we need to watch out for, and will we need any special tools to do the job? (he had a special 'key' when we took his engine out this weekend). Also, is there anything else I should be looking and checking/changing while we are in there? I suspect the sump gasket may need a change as the car uses a lot of oil, but obviously that will make it a much bigger job. I've heard a bigger heat shield can help prevent this from happening in the future - anyone know where I can get one?

cheers,

Arum

You definately need a belt tensioning device P9201 or an aftermarket one made by Krikit.

There is a good guide in the shop manual at www.clarks-garage.com

Thanks for that. I don't suppose there's anyone on here who could/would lend me the tensioning tool for the job. (Devon area) They're a bit pricey!

Don't the Club have one that is available to members?
