Belts and tensioners

Had the belts done several months ago by a specialist, including belts, tensioners, oil seals and a major 48K service.
As you can expect it was a fairly hefty bill, which was fine for my peace of mind.
I was told that I needed to come back to have them retensioned after 1-2,000 miles which I did.
I wasn't expecting another bill for doing that. Although I paid, it has weighed on my mind as to whether this is normal practice.
If I am told by others this is the norm I would be happy to accept it, but at the moment I have mixed thoughts on whether to take the car back in the future.
Anyone have any thoughts?

£250 sounds rather steep!.... to say the least!

The belts are suposed to be checked after a short while but I've know idea if the cost is normal.

Again the 944 guys will know.

That's extremely steep purely to recheck the tension. Some indies include it in their fixed-price schedules, others do it for an hour's labour. Either way, £250 isn't far off the price for a belt change, let alone a check!

Are you sure that's all they did? In which case I'd take it up with them as I can't believe this isn't a mistake. £250 is nearly 5 hours at most of the independant specialists in the South East, which gives you an idea of the time you should have been in the waiting room reading an old copy of Reader's Digest. [] Just dug out the bill and it wasn't £250...
I feel slightly better now knowing its not unusual to pay for the retensioning.
I guess having just recovered from the first bill I wasn't expecting the next one so soon.
Hey ho, that's old Porsches... [:D] Just got to sort these wheels now.
