Best all round tyres for my 997 gen1 C2s

Hi all, just looking for some advice/help/opinions on best all round tyres. I wont be track driving my car so its road only!

Cheers in advance.

I've been very happy with Michelins on my 997/1 and Pirelli P Zeros that are fitted to by 997/2. I avoid Bridgstones because of serious aquaplaning on an Audi A8 4.2 quattro.

You need to decide if you wish to retain extended warranty as this will restrict your choice to N rated tyres, so Continental, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Michelin Sport.

Like tscaptain, I find Bridgestone to be top rated, but we both have 4WD.

I used Continentials for a long time on Carrera 2's and they were very good, but many extol the virtues of Michelin too. I found Pirellis to have slightly more delicate sidewalls that could become easily damaged.

Probably the best tyre in terms of performance and wear for your car would be the Michelin Super Sport if you are able to buy in the correct sizes, but this is not 'N' rated atm and would not therefore pass the 111 point test for Porsche's extended warranty.

Regards,

Clive.

Bless him but my boy is well past having an extended warranty!! I used Michelin Super Sports on my old Carlsson CLK and they were superb so it looks like the French will be getting my cash!

+1 for Michelin PS2's
My 997 C2s initially came with Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N1 all round and the're a great tyre particularly in the wet, but boy do they wear out quickly (Like Lancerlot said, watch those edges; they're really susceptible to pressure changes too) In the first four years, I've had three (!) sets on the back alone. I can't speak for the current standard P-Zero which are in-vogue as being offered on new 991s, but:
I've recently changed to PS2 N2's and it's like night and day. Much better dry grip, not much difference in the wet and it just 'feels' better with more confidence to lean on them as they warm up.
If you can afford the extra, they're well worth it :D

For me Pirelli wear too quickly but good feel - only had one set on the 911
Bridgestones have been my stock tyre and just replaced rear two as fronts still have good tread depth, however if the fronts had been worn i would have changed all corners to Michelin this time as they have such good reviews

Peter,
Porsche Extended Warranty can now include vehicles up to 14 years old and not exceeding 125K miles, subject to a Porsche Centre 111 point inspection, but you will need to fit N rated tyres to qualify.

Clive.

Bridgestone every mile

235/35/19 N rated 295/30/19 N rated

Completely satisfied on all fronts with mine
