Hi, could anyone advise the best wheel cleaner and protector to use that is not too aggressive as I am struggling to make a decision ones which have recommended are Poorboys, Wonder Wheels etc.

Hi I tend to use Porsche own brand which I find is excellent as I get a lot of brake dust on my Red Alloy wheels & they come up well & I then wax my wheels with Rim Wax which I find is Excellent too. All the best in what you use on your wheels, Yours sincerely Kevin.

Valet PRO Bilberry Wheel Cleaner is the best wheel cleaner about, it can be mixed with water 50/50 and still works great, about a tenner for 1 litre and twenty five pounds for 5 litres . rim wax is also a good product.

As mentioned Valet Pro Bilberry to clean if they are really dirty. Once clean you can seal with FinishKare 1000p hi temp. or if you already have PBs or Rimwax use that. another you might concider is Chemical Guys Wheel Seal. Once clean and sealed they should need nothing more than a ph balanced shampoo wash and dry. Cliff.

+1 for Virosol, completely safe for alloys, great cleaner plus useful round the house eg cooker hood, shower.  Not available from mainstream retailers but can provide details of a supplier in Wakefield if that is anywhere near you. Wheels can be finished off with wax, special wheel wax not essential, can use the same wax as you use on the bodywork for good results (we use Swissvax).  Wouldn't touch Wonder Wheels with a barge pole.  Golden rule, whatever product you use should be ph neutral. Happy cleaning! Mike

I use Wonder Wheels...but really only the once.....after using it i have waxed the wheels inside and out...thereafter simple washing removes the brake dust/dirt and further cleaning products no longer needed...I replace the wax yearly...

i use swissvax wheel cleaner, not aggresive also use their wheel wax. Now that the wax is on shampoo and water is enough to clean them.

my daily driver had baked on brake dust on the alloys,i tried neat valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner it removed the dust that was not baked on ,so going on to a car detailing site i found this : you can remove baked on brake dust with an acid based path and patio cleaner , so i headed down to screwfix and bought de-solv-it patio and path cleaner as recommend,it only cost £7 for 5 litres, i poured a bit into a spray bottle and sprayed on wheels wearing rubber gloves and a wheel brush i got to work ,within 2 minutes my wheels were like new ,all the baked on brake dust was gone ,i hosed them off with water .once dry i sealed the wheels with halfords alloy wheel protector spray(the cleaner does contain hydrchloric acid so take care)i would only do this if your wheels have baked on brake dust and not all the time, a tried a few wheel cleaners before doing this this was the only product that worked.

Thanks to everyone, I opted for Pro Bilberry and Rim Wax and they do what they say on the tin, really easy to apply and to take off, wheels look superb.
